Sewing the Seed is a Ministry of St. Rose of Lima Parish. It is an expression of our Baptismal commitment to be people of God’s healing and comfort through the creation of handmade fabric gifts that are lovingly and prayerfully sewn. Members engage in sewing, quilt making and other needle work to provide prayer quilts to parishioners who are in need of support and prayers, baby blankets for Life Centers, and various projects to support others in need in our parish, community and throughout the world. The gift is meant to symbolize the loving embrace of God. All recipients continue to be held in prayer.
My soul is fed with needle and thread.
Sewing the Seed invites all St. Rose of Lima Parish members to join us in meeting the needs of the parish and greater community by providing prayer quilts, baby blankets and other sewn items.
We usually meet on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 1466 Pride Street, the second house north of the Pride Street parking lot entrance to the parish property. We meet from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Members come and go from these meetings as they have time. We sew, talk, plan and organize supplies and fabrics, depending on the need at the time.
Please consider joining us to share your talents or learn a new skill. All levels of experience and expertise are welcome.
We all know of people in need of prayer. Sewing the Seed Ministry has a mission to comfort those of us in our times of need as a reminder of all who we are as the Body of Christ. We distribute prayer quilts to anyone from the parish who is faced with illness, relationship difficulties or other struggles in life.
Please help our ministry by letting informing us of those you know who might need to be covered in
prayer...figuratively and literally.
